I meet God in Ida, a 17-year-old dreamer who is trying to protect her parents from deportation. I meet God in the 7th graders in Camden, New Jersey, who are striving to improve their neighborhood. I meet God in the parents in South Central, Los Angeles, as they advocate for their children in the schools. I meet God in Republican Congressman Jeff Denham as he struggles in his party to create immigration policy rooted in justice. I meet God in Democratic Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, who blends polling data and life experience to create policy. I meet God in our NETWORK staff as we strive to listen deeply to the Spirit, nudging us to move forward.
I meet God in the silence, the heartache, the frustration, the complexity of trying to achieve justice and embracing the 100%. No one is left out of God’s care and no one can be left out of ours. May our hearts beat with God’s compassionate justice where all are welcomed in joy!
